Oklahoma Today Magazine Triumphs With Best Cover Award

Oklahoma Today won the Reader’s Choice Award in the City and Regional Magazine category for Best Cover.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma Today made the Sooner State proud by winning an award in the American Society of Magazine Editors 2022 Best Cover Contest. The magazine’s September/October 2021 cover won the Reader’s Choice Award in the City and Regional Magazine category for Best Cover.

The awards were announced on Twitter on June 16. The American Society of Magazine Editors Best Cover Contest is a national award voted on by ASME members, other journalists and members of the public. Recipients in other categories included magazine giants such as Rolling Stone, Consumer Reports and Vanity Fair.

The Reader’s Choice Award is determined by voters on Facebook, who choose their favorites online. The covers in each category with the most likes received the award. Other categories included News and Politics; Entertainment and Celebrity; Business and Technology; Sports and Adventure; Health and Fitness; Fashion and Style; Food and Travel; Conceptual; and Illustrated.

Oklahoma Today is “The Official Magazine of Oklahoma,” and is produced by the Travel Promotion division of the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department. This is the second time the bi-monthly publication has won the Best Cover award.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the Oklahoma Today team for creating such a stunning cover,” said Nathan Gunter, Oklahoma Today editor-in-chief. “Lori Duckworth took a beautiful photo, Steven Walker created a design that truly sings, and our staff carried out a striking vision with model Lestari Kusumawardani and the gorgeous Bradford House at its center. We’re unbelievably proud to get to spotlight Oklahoma destinations like this in a way that shows Oklahomans how much there really is to love and take pride in here in our state.”

Oklahoma Today is published six times a year — in January, March, May, July, September and November. The magazine can be purchased at select retail locations in Oklahoma.
