Celebrate Earth Day at an Oklahoma State Park
OKLAHOMA CITY, April 16 — To celebrate Earth Day, the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department is hosting activities at five state parks on Sunday, April 21, to encourage park visitors to preserve and protect Oklahoma’s beauty and natural resources.
“We’re excited to celebrate our agency’s mission of preserving, protecting and enhancing Oklahoma’s natural assets, with the goal of maintaining our State Parks for future generations,” said Shelley Zumwalt, Secretary of Tourism, Wildlife & Heritage and Executive Director of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department. “We can’t wait to host events at five of our state parks for Oklahomans to champion this cause and help visitors learn more about our state’s environment.”
April is also Keep Oklahoma Beautiful Month, an initiative that aims to empower Oklahomans to preserve and enhance the state’s natural beauty and ensure a healthy, sustainable environment.
Participating parks include:
- Keystone State Park
- Sequoyah State Park
- Great Plains State Park
- Lake Eufaula State Park
- Bernice Area at Grand Lake State Park
Each park will host a range of events and activities for individuals to participate in — a park clean-up, educational crafts, seedling giveaways, environmental education with a park naturalist and more. Parking fees will be waived at the participating parks.
