Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department Featured on Nuestra Oklahoma

Ramón Rentería-Lara promoted Oklahoma tourism on the season finale of Telemundo’s Nuestra Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY — Telemundo’s Nuestra Oklahoma TV show featured the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department during the show’s season finale.

According to UnidosOK, the local 30-minute show is presented by Ian Torres, who speaks with nonprofit organizations and public entities in order to share valuable information to the Hispanic community in Oklahoma.

Rentería-Lara, a marketing consultant for OTRD, promoted adventuring outdoors in Oklahoma State Parks, the many uses of TravelOK.com and the guides that the agency produces. Rentería-Lara’s goal by appearing on Nuestra Oklahoma was to raise awareness of how beautiful the state is and promote everything the department has to offer.

“There is a lot of Spanish-speaking community out there that does not know some of the things we offer,” Rentería-Lara said. “An example is if they have a local business, they could utilize TravelOK.com to promote their business. This community plays a huge role in the local economy. We want those dollars to stay local and support our local businesses.”

Other local destinations Rentería-Lara promoted were state parks and Route 66.

“We wanted to let the Oklahoma Hispanic community know that there are ways you can book a stay at any of our state parks online, and what [the parks] have to offer,” Rentería-Lara said. “You don’t have to travel to another state or another country to see what Oklahoma already has. Everything from campsites, to lakes, to Route 66 … Route 66 is very popular in Spanish-speaking countries, and we have it here in our backyard.”
